Dear Fulfilled Woman,
Welcome to my blog, where I share insights on key aspects of personal and professional development’ with topics ranging from self-esteem, identity, emotional wellbeing, mental health, career development & transition, social relationships, family, life transitions (like menopause or midlife), spirituality, grief, faith, and life’s purpose. Whatever season of life you are in, there’s something in here for you. I am passionate about empowering women to thrive holistically, and I am honored to serve as a pathway to your limitlessness.
You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start today to change the ending. So, my first charge to you is to take charge of your life and begin to craft a new story with a happier ending. However, before you can take charge of your life, you should know who you are and where you are headed, or else you might end up at the wrong destination.
Your Identity is the ‘fact of being’ who you are. It is your individuality, authentic self, core, or essence. On a deeper level, your identity extends beyond who you are to the way you think about yourself, the way you are viewed by the world, and the characteristics that define you. Formation of identity is a crucial aspect of your life.
When you have a strong connection and commitment to your identity, you live a more holistic, balanced, healthier, more fulfilling, and successful life. When you lack a sense of identity, you begin to question your sense of self and worth, which can lead to an ‘identity crisis’. In its severe form, you may experience personal conflict, restlessness, panic attack, and a decline in your mental health.
Identity crisis will usually rear its ugly head in times of great change, transition, stress or adversity. For instance, during:
• An extremely traumatic period
• Unexpected health issues
• Relocation to a new place
• Divorce or separation
• Sudden loss of job
• Loss or grief
• Retirement
• Midlife crisis
WHAT TO DO:
If you are going through a very stressful period, or it feels like you are going through an identity crisis, you may need to pause and engage in a holistic exploration of “the self”. And you can start by asking:
‘How have I allowed what I am going through affect my sense of self? What assumptions am I making about my life right now How true are these assumptions? Are they serving or undermining me? How best can I reframe what is going on in my life? Is there another perspective to this? What are my options? What is this teaching me? Is there any good side to what is going on? What support systems can I draw on right now? What are my values and principles that I can hold on to? What’s working in my life that I can hold on to as an anchor whilst I navigate what is not working? Where do I want to see myself at the end of this What is one little step that I can take right now?
I understand that it may be difficult to engage in an exploration of this nature alone when the chips are down. Remember you are never alone. I am just a chat away.
